Born to Henry and Nora Allen in 1989, Barry would have a happy childhood at first. His parents did everything to keep a loving home and the three Allens were happy together. The only disruption to his life was the bullies that plagued him. However, this happy life would change when Barry was eleven years old, as that would be the age he would lose his parents. His mother was murdered in mysterious circumstances. A yellow and red lightning blur surrounded her and the stranger inside took her life. His father was blamed for this murder and taken to jail, despite being innocent of the crime.

After this point, Barry would be fostered by his best friend Iris' father, Joe West. As he grew up, Barry would spend much of his time trying to prove his father was innocent. But the fact he was a child and he was talking about something 'impossible' led him to be ignored, scoffed at, and put into therapy.

This doesn't mean he wasn't sometimes a happy child despite these things. Being raised alongside his best friend (and crush) by a wonderful foster father made this happiness possible. He and Iris would grow closer and closer as time passed, while Joe loved and took care of both of them with all his heart. Encouraged to try his best in every way, Barry would study criminology, becoming a forensics assistant with the Central City PD. He would use his job as a way to keep track of strange and unexplainable cases, hoping that one might help him solve his mother's case. He would travel at times to study them. At one point, his travels would lead him to Starling City, where he would discover the identity of and help Green Arrow.

When he returned from this trip, he intended to attend the startup of the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator, but it didn't work out. When the accelerator became unstable, Barry was in his forensic's lab. The accelerator would send out a shockwave across the city, and this shockwave would cause lightning to strike him. Sent flying into many chemical bottles, the combination would cause Barry to develop the powers of the Flash.

Spending nine months in a coma, he would be acquired by S.T.A.R. Labs to observe and attempt to keep alive. When he eventually woke up, he didn't believe them that he could have been altered in some way. However, he would soon discover his powers and work with S.T.A.R.'s team of three: Cisco Ramon, Harrison Wells and Caitlin Snow. It would not take long before Barry convinced them that he could use his powers for good, and they all worked together to allow him to fight crime. First known as The Streak/Red Streak, eventually Barry would become known as... The Flash.
